Abstract
Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution that has turned the old manufacturing systems into smart, networked, and self-directed systems. One of the enablers of this change is robotics, which enables automation, accuracy, and timely decision-making. In this paper, I will provide an in-depth discussion of the combination of robotics with the Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and Digital Twin. The paper examines enabling technologies, system design, industrial uses, performance gains, and significant implementation issues. A theoretical stratified integration model is suggested, as well as performance measures. Future directions that focus on sustainability, Industry 5.0, and autonomous manufacturing systems are the conclusions of the paper.
